Monoblock Air Conditioning you can fit yourself.

Supply & DIY - No Engineer, No Fuss.

The Olympia monobloc air conditioning unit is designed for quick and easy installation in rooms and can be installed at both low and high level.

Everything is built into one indoor unit.
To install you need to core drill two wall holes (160/202mm ∅), a hole for the condensate and have a plug socket for powering the unit

You will need to consider wall type, wall thickness, external wall materials e.g. cladding that might be challenging for core drilling.

Not all Monobloc Air Conditioinng units are the same

The safety requirements for R290 refirgerant is set out in the international safety standard IEC 60335-2-40 - including SAFE room size and installation height.

If you're comparing Monobloc AC units, check the refrigerant charge.  When it's above 152g, it triggers extra safety requirements around room size and mounting height.

Some lower priced units offer higher refrigerant charges, that it not the problem, but how the unit it going to be installed is.  It's important to understand and read the guidance -  safety requirements can be there technically there in the small print, but they're not communicated clearly enough for an installer to easily get right. If a unit ends up fitted in too small a room, or mounted lower than it should be, that safety margin, the thing that makes propane units so safe in the first place quietly disappears.

How do I know if a monoblock air conditioning unit is suitable for my room?

Monobloc air conditioning units are ideal for rooms where installing an external condenser unit is not possible or practical. They work best in bedrooms, home offices, small living rooms, and commercial spaces where wall-mounted ducting can be installed. Suitability depends on room size, insulation, window type, and heat load.

How do you ensure I get the right size unit for my room?

We consider a number of factors including room dimensions, ceiling height, number of occupants, and external wall orientation. This ensures the unit is neither underpowered nor oversized, delivering efficient and consistent cooling.  If you are interested in understanding what unit is right for your space send us an enquiry

Do monoblock air conditioners have both heating and cooling modes?

Yes, the Olympia Splendid monobloc air conditioning units come with reversible heat pump technology, allowing both cooling in summer and heating in winter. This makes them a year-round climate control solution, not just an AC unit - perfect for bedrooms, home offices, garden rooms and more!

What do I need to consider before installing a monoblock AC unit?

Key installation considerations include:

  • External wall access for air intake/exhaust (typically two core holes)
  • Suitable wall thickness and structure
  • Proximity to a standard electrical socket
  • Airflow inside the room (avoid obstruction from furniture or curtains)
  • Noise expectations depending on room use (e.g. bedrooms vs offices)

Can I install a monoblock air conditioner myself (DIY installation)?

Yes, monobloc units are designed for straightforward installation. Most require just two wall penetrations and a standard plug connection. However, core drilling through external walls should be done carefully using the correct tools, and we always recommend professional installation if you are unsure about structural walls or electrical safety.

Are there any tips for DIY installation?

Yes, for best results:

  • Carefully measure and mark drill positions before cutting
  • Ensure both air ducts are correctly aligned and sealed
  • Use appropriate insulation around wall sleeves to prevent air leakage
  • Check for any hidden cables or pipes before drilling
  • Ensure the unit is level for proper drainage and performance

What else can I do to improve cooling efficiency in the room?

To maximise performance:

  • Use blackout blinds or curtains to reduce solar gain
  • Seal gaps around windows and doors
  • Avoid placing heat-generating appliances near the unit
  • Use ceiling fans to circulate cooled air more effectively
  • Keep filters clean for optimal airflow

Is VAT-free installation available?

0% VAT is elegible on Olympia Monobloc AC units. We can advise on eligibility at the point of purchase or installation enquiry.

How does the WiFi setup work on monoblock AC units?

WiFi-enabled units can be connected to your home network via a mobile app:

  • Download the Olympia Splend App
  • Connecting the unit to your WiFi network
  • Pairing the unit through the app interface
  • Controlling temperature, timers, and modes remotely from your phone
